TISSUE Magazine Mixtape 47
by Luzi Gehrisch

Latest TISSUE Magazine mixtape is made by the marvelous young and promising DJ Luzi Gehrisch. Now based in Leipzig, she is originally from Frankfurt, where she is known for playing at the STAY parties at Robert Johnson in Offenbach. Luzi tells that it was actually not her intention to become a DJ, ”It just happened …”, but listening to the mix, we are happy it did.

Her mixtape lets most of the tracks run their full length, stringing together different genres, old and new, electronic and experimental, kraut and disco with an overall stand out for late 80s, synth and African music. Her approach of playing music is something we try to put a focus on in our series as well: ”It is not always necessary to mix, especially in a mix.”

The cover of this mix is an excerpt of TISSUE x FIMS — A Practical Examination of the Concept of Antibody/Antiform by Eloise Boden (Dan Szor/University of Salford, Manchester): https://tissuemagazine.com/?p=7709
