Modern digital post internet art, or what ever names could apply to describe the genre, is often on the verge of being tacky, as approaches and motifs seem repetitive and uninspired nowadays. The works of Tim Berresheim are a refreshing exception to the usual feeling of having seen things before. As he cleverly draws on relations of the beholder with the showroom, conventional habits of perception are put to the test. Thus, a rather playful experience is created. His works provide full-scale experiences: the pictures are completely simulated in terms of room, light and scene – realised with tailormade sketches into mathematic formulas through IBM-CPU power.
Note: These are the last days to see his current work at Kunstverein Düsseldorf. But there’s a lot more to come. Tim Berresheim will have several solo shows in Stuttgart, Aachen and New York this year. We’ll keep you posted and serve you with a bigger feature this year.
