I dare you to ask Anastasiya Lazurenko about her work. You will be dismissed with her invariable “Fuck, what am I supposed to say?”. Lazurenko’s work is not about an “artistic statement” — it’s about the moment. The most memorable of them come about by accident. The shoot with Zhenya was one of such occasions, when one summer weekend things went wild. Everyone went high off their heads on psychoactive stimulants and the moment was captured in a series of portraits.
Zhenya — Lazurenko’s long time muse — has this true punk rock attitude. Her gaze oozes the rawness of the moment. Zhenya embodies everything Anastasiya admires — freedom, honesty, character. It pretty much sums up what Lazurenko’s photography is about.
