Right after the end of the lovely DOM exhibition, Berlin’s project space aesthetik01 already takes the viewer on the next journey into a mystical parallel world. For Kristall ohne Liebe (English: Crystal Without Love) Stuttgart-based artist Alexander Binder links digital and analogue photography by using modern SLR cameras with old and self-built lenses. With the help of prisms and crystals, his images capture a universe full of contrasts: color photographs hit on dense black and white works, life and death. The sublime and the hidden clash abruptly.
This series was created over a period of more than five years in Norway, Sweden, Great Britain, Switzerland and Germany and has been published as a photo book by Tangerine Press. See some of these beautiful psychedelic photographs below and till February 9, Thursday through Saturday from 4 to 8 PM at aesthetik01, Lübecker Straße 49 in Berlin-Moabit.
