NEW MAGAZINE CULTURE / LEAD AWARDS 2013
Us spitting some truth on New Magazine Culture at the LEAD AWARDS 2013 Symposium panel discussion. Left to right: Adriano Sack, Ibrahim Nehme (The Outpost), David Lane (The Gourmand), Nacho Alegre (Apartamento), Uwe Jens Bermeitinger (TISSUE Magazine).
Thanks to the Lead Award jury for nominating us as Newcomer Magazine Of The Year, Markus Peichl for inviting us, Adriano Sack for “… relevant and successful.”, Martin Santner for taking care, and Stella Marisa Kaas for fulfilling every desire we had to make us feel comfortable. We are looking forward to next year’s Lead Awards.
Yours, Team TISSUE

IT’S A REMINDER, STUPID!
Tomorrow at 10.20 AM TISSUE Magazine will take part in a panel discussion on "New Magazine Culture" at the LEADAWARD SYMPOSIUM in Hamburg along with APARTAMENTO (Barcelona), THE GOURMAND (London) and THE OUTPOST (Beirut). Hosted by Adriano Sack.
And while Team TISSUE is feeling pretty honoured, UWE is peeing his pants.
But he promised to not drop them.

DEAR READERS, FRIENDS AND SUPPORTERS,
LET’S MAKE 2013 A BLAST!
Review TISSUE Ultra 2: MAXIME BALLESTEROS by girlsonshoulders.com
Thank you everybody for sharing a nice evening with us.
Next time we’ll dim the light earlier. Promised.
TISSUE WENT TO THE SOCIÉTÉ DE 032c
… and all we got was a boner.
Well, that is not exactly true as what we really got were these (slightly blurry) pictures of Michelle Elie’s new jewelry collection - that just so happens to include a ring with an erect penis. She and hair stylist Troi Ollivierre transformed 032c’s display into one hell of a puppet show channeling their inner Claude Levi-Strausses. Definitely the most elaborate showcase we have seen there so far.
All in all it was – once again – a very pleasurable event. We can now especially recommend a drink named the Garden Tonic (vodka, elderflower syrup, tonic, one branch of thyme).

MIKE MEIRÉ IS AN ARTIST
Most people don’t know. Germans know TISSUE N°2 contributor Mike Meiré as their most important editorial designer and art director (032c, Kid’s Wear, Garage, Brand Eins, you name it). Since 20 years he’s constantly distressing lazy readers with his avantgarde layouts and multivisual expertise. A big influence for my work the last 12 years, too. Pardon my french: He re-invented that shit.
"Der Prophet ist nichts wert im eigenen Land", that’s why his first solo exhibition “Economy of Attention” at Bartha Contemporary in London goes very well. UK knows. Mike is showing a series of work from his grid paintings (lacquer paint on newspaper), sexual explicit works and four of his beautiful abstract ceramic sculptures: “Flowing forms associated with male and female genitals …”, he says.
If you’re in London, you can visit the exhibition till August 18th at Bartha Contemporary, 25 Margaret Street, London. There are also some copies of TISSUE N°2 on display.
